Field Mouse

about

I had an arrangement of huge proportions for this song in my head at the time, with huge strings and brass instruments kicking things off. Sometimes that is harder to achieve than you think. Lyrically, it's one I struggle to get on with, which is fine. I wrote it on the mandolin and remember really liking the chord changes and feeling quite excited to be playing the instrument. The drums really made the track, playing with a waltz-like feel, taking it to a different place. The whole of the Grassmarket EP was arranged with the band in Lloyds garage over the winter of 2010, so have fond memories of trying to play the mandolin without my fingers falling off.
